Antoni Gaudí conceived the floor as part of the Casa Batlló project, defining an innovative, luminous, and deeply functional domestic architecture. The Batllós placed the floor on the rental market, divided into apartments F and G.

Carlos Marimon Batlló, the great-grandson of the Batllós, moved into the residence with his family, solidifying its residential use during the second half of the 20th century. Throughout these decades, various renovations—mostly superficial—were carried out, altering the flooring, woodwork, and finishes.

In 2010 and 2019, the last residents of the floor's apartments, Mercedes Arbiol Muntané and Maria Luisa Nieves Conde, passed away. Both were sisters-in-law married to direct descendants of the Batlló family. Members of the Casa Batlló team knew them personally and spent time with them in their homes, gathering stories and memories of daily life, the Batlló family, and Gaudí himself.

For the first time, the floor opens to new uses, reclaiming its original domestic character and projecting it toward a contemporary way of experiencing heritage. A historic residence that comes to life once again, serving as a unique testament to Barcelona’s bourgeois lifestyle at the turn of the 20th century.
